    Presentation Description:

What is a Volunteer Program? Why should I offer a Volunteer Program? Where do I even start?

Sponsorship of volunteer programs is also recognized as a recruitment strategy, as younger generations indicate that volunteer programs are important. The  2019 Employee Benefits Survey conducted by SHRM concluded that 26% of employers offer paid time off for volunteering.

Volunteer programs are more than just a benefit that can be offered. According to a study by United Healthcare, employees who volunteer through work report feeling better about their employer and strengthened bonds with co-workers. Join us for a panel discussion with representatives from US Venture, Verve and Aerotek to get to know what area businesses are doing for their employees.

    Speakers

    Greg Vandenberg

Greg is the Director of Giving and Community Engagement at U.S. Venture, Inc. He serves as Executive Director of the U.S. Venture/Schmidt Family Foundation and oversees the Basic Needs Giving Partnership, a funding collaborative in Northeast Wisconsin which will grant more than $5 million dollars in 2020. Greg also leads the U.S. Venture Open – a one-day golf outing that funds the Basic Needs Giving Partnership and raised more than $5.2 million in 2019. He has more than 16 years of non-profit experience, most recently with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) where he held the positions of Ambulatory Care Manager and Director of Development. In 2014, he received the Servant Leadership Award from CHW. Prior to CHW, he was with Life Promotions and Lifest Music Festival, where he worked in fundraising, program development and served as Festival Director. He also has been a guest speaker at Christ The Rock Community Church. Greg holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and an Associate Degree of Arts and Science from the University of Wisconsin – Fox Valley. Greg enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and son, and attending their sporting and theater activities. His hobbies include beer tasting, reading and studying theology, and anything related to comic books and superheroes.

    Mitchell Michiels

Mitchell is a community outreach specialist at Verve, a Credit Union & lives to serve the community.  After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Marian University in Fond du Lac, he applied for Verve, a Credit Union as a filler position until he found a job for what he went to school for. Mitchell realized he loved the way he could serve the community through the credit union and decided to pursue a career in the financial field. Mitchell works hard every day, but rarely spends a full day in the office.  His time is spent at concerts, fundraisers, runs/walks, in the classroom teaching students about Verve and meeting with local leaders to find ways Verve can help make our communities a better place to live, work and worship. Verve is all about giving back and investing in the community, and so is Mitchell. He’s always looking for the next partnership, youth education and event sponsorship opportunity to help people learn more about finances and reach their goals. When Mitchell is not at work, he enjoys exercising, reading historical war novels, spending time with his wife and two kids, as well as using his breakfast sandwich maker morning, noon and night.
